Impressions of NYC (2007)
"Yet Another": A humorous allusion often used in titles to acknowledge that the topic is not original, though the content is. This is probably my case: Yet another set of NYC photographs. Refinery Flocks (2006/2009)
Refinery Flocks is the resulting project of the previous Refinery Flock (2006), Refinery Again (2008). It comprises a selection of the photographs of both projects plus some new photographs taken in late 2009. The project is visible under "Works->Refinery Flock" on the Portfolio. Nature is able to adapt. Recently, for instance, great catastrophes, as petrol spills in the sea, did not produce, in some cases, all the predicted effects thanks to the extraordinary resilience of ecological systems. Simulacra (2009)
Simulacra is the essay I'm working on since one year circa. Project rationale the following: A Simulacrum. The representation of a God, an image that does not correspond exactly to reality. Modern society, Baudrillard claims, has replaced reality and meaning with symbols and signs and has become so reliant on simulacra that it has lost contact with the real world on which the simulacra are based. Wrecked Dreams (Lampedusa) – 2009
Thousands of tourists flock every summer to the island of Lampedusa off the coast of Sicily. They mostly come from the northern part of Europe of from Italy for the beaches, the turquoise waters and the cliffs. But there is more happening in this small chalk plateau in the middle of the Mediterranean. Flocks of immigrants (36.000 boat people between Feb 2008 and 2009), with the dream of peace and of a better life pictured in the eyes, with desperation for escaping war, try to cross that wonderful sea with improvised boats of all kinds. complimenti per il nuvo sito, molto bello e professionale, con addirittura la doppia versione html e flash, bravo! Giusto un paio di considerazioni:
Il limite a 200kb secondo me è inutile. Stabilisci la dimensione in px, poi salvi sempre tutto con lo stesso fattore di compressione di Photoshop, tipo 7 o 8. La dimensione delle immagini poi viene di conseguenza.
Cercando rafinery again ho avuto un po’ di difficoltà. Mi sembra che la distinzione fra 2009 e progetti sia un po’ confusa. Il mio consiglio è questo: metti tutto nella cartella progetti, se poi sono troppi fai una cartella archivi. in questo modo in progetti avrai solo il meglio del meglio e i più recenti staranno in testa, e in archivi metti tutto quello che vuoi comunque mantenere sul sito, ma senza dargli un posto di primo piano.

grazie per i commenti, molto utili.
Per quanto riguarda la dimensione, visti i 1600×900 punti di ogni immagine nel complesso, non puoi decidere apriori una qualità… Altrimenti le immagini possono essere tranquillamente 400/500 kb e quindi il sito praticamente “innavigabile”.
Il tuo suggerimento sugli archivi è in effetti corretto…. Penso di adottarlo… Grazie,

Massimo i caratteri degli incipit dei progetti sono troppo piccoli, faccio fatica a leggere quelli su NYc impression per esempio, poi bianchi su fondo grigio…

La scritta @ è “sotto” la foto, on purpose. Per quanto riguarda i caratteri bianchi su sfondo grigio scuro non trovo che siano di difficile lettura. Hai provato la modalità fullscreen? A che risoluzione lavori?

Sono d’accordo con Fabiano, visto che hai comunque una certa mole di fotografie che meritano senz’altro di essere condivise e visto che però troppa roba crea confusione, ripristinare una sezione di Archivi, come c’era un tempo, sarebbe un’ottima idea. Anche perché una delle tue foto che io amo di più non è più sul tuo sito da tanto tempo ormai, e per me è un peccato. Vabbè che giustamente la scelta su cosa pubblicare e cosa no è solo tua, però ci sono tante foto valide che non mostri più, e credo sia più per non esagerare con il numero di foto che non perché tu non le ritenga all’altezza, e una sezione di archivio potrebbe dare qualche chance a qualche ripescaggio… Lo dico non senza interesse, anche perché poi sono quelle foto che mi hanno subito fatto avvicinare alla fotografia…
Molto bella anche la prima foto di Refinery Again, peccato solo per i copyright, ma fai benissimo a tutelarti.

I copyright visibili… Lo so, non sono belli. Danno fastidio anche a me pur essendo “quasi” invisibili… Eppure trovo da qualche tempo alcuni miei scatti su Flickr a mia completa insaputa… Poi vengono rimossi dopo apposita email, a volte invece vengo correttamente citato. Inutile… Quando le foto sono grandi online, aldilà delle tecnologie di digimarking è opportuno un pizzico di ulteriore “protezione”.
PS la modalità fullscreen mi era sfuggita, è molto suggestiva!!!!
