Forty years ago. Belice valley Earthquake (Sicily/Italy). 6.3 Richter, 370 deaths, 70.000 evacuees. Poggioreale, Gibellina, Salaparuta, Salemi, Menfi and other towns destroyed or heavily damaged. In some cases entirely rebuilt elsewhere. In the case of Poggioreale, that look still nearly ok from the distance, on his cultivated hill, the feeling, with the images of the Abruzzo Earthquake in mind, is terrifying. Only noises are the insects buzz and the clashes of broken doors moved by wind. A ghost town in Italian mood. With the hope that the town of Onna or other cities in Abruzzo, will NOT look, in forty years, this way.

Foto magnifiche e forti, molto rappresentative della situazione tetra che si vede in questa città ferma al momento del terremoto. Io ho sentito il ronzio degli insetti,lo sbattere delle porte mosse dal vento. Sembra tutto fermo e l’unica forma di vita che vedi, senti, e respiri sono questi rumori che fanno paura, che ritraggono ancora una volta il terrore e la morte. Queste foto sono forti perchè scorrendole ho rispreso a sentire il ronzio degli insetti e la sciagura che ho respirato tra le strade di questa città fantasma. cl
